Is Nourish Counseling the Right Fit for Me?

If you find that your thoughts are preoccupied with food, weight, calories, exercise, body image or shape, you can benefit from the services provided by Nourish Counseling. With help you will learn to incorporate the 10 Core Principles of Intuitive Eating into your daily life, freeing you from diet mentality.

    What is Intuitive Eating?

Intuitive eating is an approach to total wellness that helps you break the cycle of yo-yo dieting and binging, excessive exercise, and obsessive thoughts around weight, body size, and food. Intuitive eating is the un-diet. It takes the focus off of diet and food, and places it on tuning into your true hunger, fullness and satiety cues which guide your food choices and related behaviors.

And it’s so much more than just a new way to eat– we will spend time discovering your relationship with food, body image and core values while uncovering what truly lights up your spirit and fuels your passion for life.

    How Long will it Take?

Most clients begin experience shifts away from disordered eating within the first 2-3 sessions. Those who do best on this program make a commitment to attend sessions on a regular basis and complete assignments. The weekly assignments really help to support what was explored during sessions and integrate new ways of thinking into your lifestyle.

Significant progress can be made within 90 days, yet every person is wonderfully unique, and your journey may take more or less time. It is important to allow yourself to progress at the pace that right for you.

Will I Lose Weight Following Intuitive Eating?

Intuitive Eating is not a diet plan, it is a way of life. It is a return to your natural, intuitive wisdom that you’ve had since birth. As you progress, you will begin to align your thoughts, behaviors, and choices to those which are gentle and supportive of overall wellness.

As such, people find that their weight may respond in the way that is most healing to their body. For some this will mean a weight loss, for others, a weight gain, and still others will see no weight change. When learning Intuitive Eating, it is important to put weight concerns on-hold for a time, as these have led to unhealthy behaviors and food choices in the past. We must create space for your body to fully heal and rebalance.
